Mr President, let us render unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's and unto God the things which be God's.
And saith [Jesus] unto them: 'Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's'.
At the root of secularity are Christ's words from the gospel: ' Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's'.
I am not saying that we should renounce the secular nature of the institutions; on the contrary, we would be reinforcing this inalienable characteristic, remembering the command given in the gospels to 'give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's'.
